Shorepower™ Technologies offers a suite of integrated services that provide easy access to electricity, allowing truck drivers to turn off their engines and power cab appliances, accessories, and block heaters. Shorepower delivers 120-VAC and 208-VAC electricity to vehicles in a manner similar to shore power connections at RV parks and marinas. Shorepower's system delivers reliable, high quality power for on-board amenities such as heating, cooling and entertainment. The services include cable TV and WiFi internet connections where available.
The power pedestal is an all-weather stanchion mounted fixture adjacent to each parking space. The simplest method of use is by simply connecting a heavy-duty extension cord (12-gauge or larger recommended) to the Shorepower pedestal after placing an authorization call. Shorepower Technologies also provides on-board equipment to take full advantage of the available power. Most equipment can be installed by the driver, but professional installation is available upon request. More complex installation kits include a cab mounted load center and wiring harness to power a full range of cab amenities including heating, AC, cooking and entertainment devices, as well as block heater. Shorepower has also licensed a series of electrification kits for aftermarket installation. Heavy-duty air conditioning and heating units that can be integrated into the system are available from Dometic, Tundra, Carrier and others. Virtually all major heavy-duty truck manufacturers recognize the benefits of shore power technology and offer compatible systems on their Class 8 sleeper cab models.
For drivers Shorepower offers a cleaner, quieter alternative to engine idling during rest stops. They benefit from a better night’s rest in addition to exhaust-free, healthier air. It also saves fuel and reduces engine maintenance and component wear. Using Shorepower’s services ensures compliance with idling regulations.
For truck stop and travel plaza operators, Shorepower offers a new way to build traffic, improve occupancy, and create a new revenue stream with little or no capital outlay. Adding a Shorepower system to your facility provides a business model based on cost-effective electric service, with low visual and physical impact and fast on-site installation. The automated payment and control system allows Shorepower to complete each transaction remotely and deliver services to drivers, without requiring any on-site personnel. Shorepower Technologies’ power stations can also be used for charging batteries on electric vehicles (EVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs).
