HUSS, Inc. is recognized worldwide as a specialist in exhaust after-treatment for diesel engines. The Huss MK-System DPF (diesel particulate filter) is verified by CARB as a Level 3 Plus diesel emission control system for use with most on-road and off-road diesel engines.
The MK-System is an active particulate filter. The active regeneration is executed by a powerful diesel burner which works independently from the exhaust gas temperature, making it ideal for applications with low exhaust temperatures or light duty cycles. Depending on the filter size, the regeneration takes between 5 and 45 minutes. The efficient LPS-SiC (liquid-phased sintered silicon carbide) ceramic filters remove 99.9% of the harmful soot particles (PM – particulate matter) out of the exhaust gases. There are no secondary emissions related to regeneration, and the average operational time between regeneration is 8-10 hours. The filter was designed specifically for heavy-duty and off-road applications with a long life expectancy. Stainless steel construction provides a robust and corrosion free structure.
The MK-System operates independently from the engine electronic control system. The HUSS Control module monitors the entire filtration and regeneration process, using data management software to keep track of the filter system operation. Backpressure limits can be adjusted to conform with specific application needs. The system can be installed at a variety of exhaust angles to provide easy integration with every mounting configuration. It is integrated into the exhaust line of the vehicle, and the modular design allows it to fit in difficult locations.
The MK-System is suitable for most on-road diesel engines through model year 2006 and most off-road diesel engines through model year 2010. In 2010, the verification has been expanded to include TRUs. In addition it can be applied to off-road engines using diesel fuel that contains as much as 20 percent biodiesel.
