The ClimaCab® battery powered A/C system uses a high voltage, continuously variable speed compressor and blower to deliver 8,000 BTUs of cooling for 10 hours. Four deep cycle AGM batteries supply a 400 amp hour capacity, and the battery bank is isolated from the truck's starter batteries to eliminate non-start issues. The sleek profile of the compact evaporator unit has no ducting and mounts to the rear interior wall of the sleeper, saving valuable storage space and making installation faster. It can also be combined with a fuel-fired heat option using either Webasto or Espar heaters. The heater mounts under the bunk, and integrates with the control panel touch screen so that total climate system control is retained.
ClimaCab® has the unique ability to direct the flow of energy between the alternator and both battery banks to provide maximum system run time. The Power Management ModuleTM (PMM) utilizes solid state technology to charge batteries to preset factory profiles and extend battery life without costly alternator upgrades. It’s Start AssistTM feature helps eliminate jump starts by recharging depleted starter batteries. Intelligent software continuously monitors temperature changes, communicating between the compressor and fans to precisely match output with driver needs. By combining advanced battery management with variable-speed compressors and blowers, it creates a system that works in unison with components to deliver only the power needed at the moment. This enables compatibility with existing 135 amp alternators, as well as optimizing both performance and efficiency.
Every ClimaCab® unit comes equipped with a USB-based data port that collects run-time information. The ClimaCab Compass™ program converts that data into management information you can use to monitor and control the use of the electric APUs. An optional shore power connection is also available. The system weighs 166 lbs. and comes with a two year warranty. The batteries come with a 4 year warranty. Over 125 locations across the U. S. and Canada provide a responsive service network.
