Donaldson Emission Retrofit Solutions offer emission control technologies for on-road and off-road diesel engines. Diesel engines provide a reliable and efficient power source but they are known to emit harmful emissions into the air. Donaldson takes a patented “total system approach”, delivering solutions that reduce both tailpipe and crankcase emissions. Offering both CARB and EPA-verified solutions, local Donaldson representatives are ready to help you select the best solution for your fleet.

The Donaldson
SpiracleTM crankcase filtration system eliminates 100% of crankcase emissions and is a great solution to reduce emissions caused by idling. Studies have found that it improves in-cabin air quality. Reducing crankcase emissions also helps reduce total engine emissions. There are systems for both closed crankcase vents (CCV) and open crankcase vents (OCV). The proprietary Synteq XP™ media technology provides very high efficiency on small particles and prevents significant component wear. Filter service intervals of up to 2000 hours.

Retrofitting your engine with a
DOC Muffler (diesel oxidation catalyst) and a SpiracleTM filtration system is a cost-effective way to reduce particulate matter (PM) from 25% - 50%. Complete retrofit kits, including installation hardware, are available. The DOC Muffler is a direct replacement for most original equipment mufflers, and is to be installed ahead of your existing muffler. These products are designed for 4-stroke, on-road 1960-2006 model year engines rated from 150-600 horsepower.

The
DMF Muffler (diesel multi-stage filter) offers a high efficiency emissions reduction solution for 1991-2002 model year diesel-powered engines. It uses a two-stage metallic filter to trap and reduce diesel particulate matter by over 50%. The filter reduces PM, HC and CO, while minimizing NO2 emissions (<20% increase). Proprietary flow distribution devices enhance catalyst performance, deliver uniform airflow and temperatures across the catalyst, and reduce exhaust backpressure. Designed to be maintenance-free, the DMF Muffler does not require routine ash cleaning. Includes Emissions Device Monitor (EDM). The EDM monitors the backpressure and temperature of the system, and alerts the operator of engine malfunctions that affect device operation or service requirements.

For the greatest PM reduction solution, there are two new Level 3+ products. The
SEF Muffler (Semi-active Electric Filter) system is designed to reduce emissions from in-use diesel engines. Besides reducing diesel particulate matter (PM) emissions by over 90%, the SEF Muffler is also effective at reducing hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide emissions. It incorporates an electric heater to periodically burn PM captured in the DPF. The EDM (Emissions Device Monitor) informs the operator when DPF regeneration is needed. It is suitable for 1991-2006 model year on-road non-EGR engines.

The
LNF and LXF Mufflers are designed and verified for select EGR and non-EGR on-road engine applications. They offer the lowest cost approach to high-efficiency exhaust filtration, using the lowest complexity product with the highest reliability. They eliminate PM and gaseous emissions from diesel exhaust, and use exhaust heat to burn PM in the DPF. The passive DPF technology relies on the engine duty cycle to provide the heat necessary for DPF regeneration. LNF Mufflers are for use in model year 1993-2006 high NOx engines. LXF Mufflers are for use in model year for MY 2002-2006 low NOx engines. Both include the EDM system which records and monitors device operating conditions.
