Bob Russell has been involved the trucking industry for over 30 years. He ran his family’s trucking company in New Mexico before relocating to Oregon in 1980. At that time, he joined the Oregon Public Utility Commission in its truck regulatory program. Bob later headed up the Transportation Program at PUC. In 1995, he returned to the private sector as Vice President for McCracken Motor Freight, a trucking company that has operated in Oregon since 1929.
During Oregon’s 1999 and 2001 legislative sessions, Bob was Director of Government Affairs for the Oregon Trucking Associations (OTA), an 800-member organization that promotes safe and efficient operations through legislative advocacy, safety trainings and other services. In the fall of 2001, OTA’s Board of Directors appointed Bob OTA’s President. He will again serve as the Government Affairs liaison for the OTA in 2011.
Bob is a graduate of the University of New Mexico. He and his wife, Donna, have three children. They currently live near Salem, Oregon.
Bob serves on the Oregon Freight Advisory Committee, Portland Freight Committee, West Coast Corridor Coalition, Portland Business Alliance Transportation Committee, and Oregon Motor Carrier Transportation Advisory Committee.
